Arunachal Signs MoU with Norway for India’s First River Kinetic Energy Project
Arunachal Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norway-based Tidal Sail AS to establish India’s first 500 kW River Kinetic Energy Demonstration Project. The agreement, signed under the India-Norway Green Partnership, aims to generate clean electricity directly from river currents without the need for large civil infrastructure.

Arunachal Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norway-based Tidal Sail AS to establish India’s first 500 kW River Kinetic Energy Demonstration Project. The agreement, signed under the India-Norway Green Partnership, aims to generate clean electricity directly from river currents without the need for large civil infrastructure.

The project, to be implemented by the Centre for Earth Sciences & Himalayan Studies (CES&HS), is expected to strengthen renewable energy adoption, enhance energy security, and position Arunachal Pradesh as a pioneer in sustainable river-based power generation in India.
