Arunachal Pradesh marked National Handloom Day with the launch of an Artisan Data Bank by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, aimed at creating a structured record of the state’s artisans and their traditional skills. The initiative seeks to improve the identification and documentation of weavers while helping connect them with government support, training, markets and other opportunities.
The occasion also recognised the contribution of local weavers and artisans in preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s rich handloom traditions. By combining cultural preservation with better documentation and economic opportunities, the initiative could provide greater visibility and support to the state’s handloom and handicraft community.
